Clonliife athletes flying the flag at National juniors and U/23s

The National Junior and U/23 track and field championships were held in Tullamore this afternoon. Once again there were top class performances from Clonliffe athletes with gold medal wins by Alex Anayaegbunan in the junior tripple jump (13.03), Ian Rogers in the U/23 pole vault and Conor McCrossan in the U/23 110 hurdles being the highlights.

Another excellent day for Luke Mangan in the U/23 throws, Luke was second in both the Discus (40.19) and 35lbs. distance (9.80). Silvers also for the Woods twins, Beckey taking U/23 1500 silver in 4.36.17 with Sarah doing likewise in the 400m hurdles.

Bronze medals were taken home by Ciara McCallion in the U/23 400m (58.10) and Jamie Rossister in the junior 3,000 sc (10.04.8).

Other good performances on the day in the junior championships by Stuart Roche 8th in the 200m (23.17), Conor McGuinness 6th in the 1500m (4.13.38), Alex in the long jump placing 6th (6.04). While in the U/23s Mark McDonald was 7th in the 800m (1.57.38), Dave Flynn, just in the door from the States, was 4th in the 1500 (3.55.33) with Dave Fitzmaurice 5th in 3.55.33.

Meanwhile at last night`s Michael Manning 10k in Dunshauglin Eric McCann was first junior and 19th overall in 34.37.
