Sep 4, 2011 [Noel Guiden] At yesterday`s National Half Marathon Championships in Waterford the men`s team exceed expectations by finishing 2nd, while the women`s team will be disappointed at their 4th place finish. The men were lead home by the one and only Gary O`Hanlon with an excellent run to take 5th place in 68:33, less than a minute behinh him was Michael McDiarmada 7th in 69:22, with the third scorer Delan Power 25th in 71:56. Declan was also 1st O/40. Very good runs also by Darren Reilly, who continues to impress 77:28, Conor Delaney 77:55, Ernie Ramsey 78:21, Tom Frayne 80:49, Gerard Kirwan 81:11, Jeremy Chapman 82:22, Joe Phibbs 83:12, Maurice McCrohan 85:25, Paddy Tuite 87:36 and Chris Troy 1:51.52. Things really didn`t go to plan for the women`s team who had hoped to medal but finished up 4th although Ailish Malone was well up with a time of 81:21. Good times also recorded by Fionnula Doherty 88:09, Maura Matthews 88:27, Joyce O`Hare 90:25, Aisling Coppinger 90:43 and Ailish O`Sullivan 100:31.
