Thursday next July 5th will see the latest round of the Grand Prix Series for the Byrne Memorial Cup incorporate the Clonliffe Club 1500 Championships in Morton Stadium at 8.00pm.
Last year`s top three: Adam O`Brien, Sean O`Leary and Sean Doran are expected to line up once again along with several of the club`s other up and coming young athletes who will battle for the title of club men and women`s champions 2018. Adam will look to add the 1500 title to the 800 he won some 10 days back, while Alannah Cooley will look to do likewise.
This is always one of the most popular club races and a big turn out is expected. The championship is open to all club members and in addition with the numbers who`ve been competing in the Grand Prix there`ll be anything from 4 to 6 races on the night. Being a club championship all club members are asked to wear their club vests for the occasion.
Many of the young athletes racing on Thursday will today head to Tullamore for the National Junior & U/23 Championships including Adam O`Brien, Greg Hossenny, Efrem Gidey, Alannah Cooley and Cathal Doyle . Best of luck to all.
