More exciting news on The Clonliffe “Club Night of Miles”, confined to club members, which takes place on Thursday, August 6th with Club Captain Joe Cooper dusting off his wallet! Joe is putting up the sum of €100 for the fastest mile on the night, with a tasty bonus of an additional €200 if that time is sub 4.10. If that time is sub 4 the bonus is even tastier going up to €500.
For the women, Noel Guiden is putting up €100 for the fastest, with a bonus of €100 if the time is sub 5.10 and an additional €100 if sub 5.00.
To make for even greater excitement the club’s U/15s are also catered for with the night starting at 8.00pm with a mixed mile for boys and girls with a prize for 1st boy and 1st girls.
The club hopes as many of our athletes as possible take part. As many mile races as are needed will be provided. The Clonliffe Night of Miles marks the 62nd anniversary of Herb Elliott’s World Record set in Santry that same night in 1958.
Entry is now open, closing at 6.00pm on Tuesday. Entry, if you are part of a club training group, must be made through your coach, (if not with a club group athletes can enter themselves). Please e mail name and predicted time, for grading purposes, to firstname.lastname@example.org
We will have as many mile races on the night as needed! Timetable will be published with start lists on Wednesday night. Likely start time for race 1 8.00pm.
