After the presentations were made in the Club Championships the presentation of prizes was made to the winners of the 2011 Clonliffe Grand Prix Series and also presentations were made to the winners of various club races held as part of the Grand Prix Series over the latter end of the series. Maurice Ahern made presentations of the ten mile club championship and Ahern Cup. Maurice presented the Ahern Cup to the club ten mile champion Darren Reilly. A presentation was also made by Maurice to Ernie Ramsey 2nd and Phillip O’Doherty 3rd and in the handicap to Phillip O’Doherty and Paddy Tuite.
The O’Connor Cup, which was sponsored by Colm Brennan, was presented by the club captain Joe Cooper to the winner Colm Hickey, 2nd was Tom Sherlock, 3rd Ernie Ramsey. The Irwin Cup was presented to Richie Barr with 2nd Pat O’Rourke, 3rd Colm Hickey.
In the Grand Prix firstly the green jersey competition the Pat Linnane Memorial Cup was presented by the sponsor of that category Fred Connolly to the winner Phillip O’Doherty with Ernie Ramsey 2nd and Conor Delaney 3rd.
In the Grand Prix itself the Grand Prix cup was presented to the winner Colm Hickey by club captain Joe Cooper with the first prize being presented by Noel Guiden on behalf of the sponsors Behan & Associates. Prizes were also presented to Paddy Tuite 2nd, Phillip O’Doherty 3rd, Pat O’Rourke 4th, Eoin Murray 5th and Ger Kirwin 6th.
Plans are currently being made for the 2012 series, a prologue for this series will be the Dylan Ahern Memorial Cross Country Steeple Chase race which will be held in the grounds of Malahide Castle on Saturday the 11th of February. Any club member wishing to take part in this race, and guests are also welcome, should contact Maurice Ahern in advance as this is a handicap race.
