Eoin Murray reports: The 5th race in the Grand Prix series (2.5 mile), took place last night in cold but decent conditions for running. A large number of athletes turned out to compete in the McCarrick plate. Eugene was on hand on
the night to present the prizes for the 17th running of this race. Our thanks to Eugene for his continued sponsorship and support of this race.
It was a staggered start, an open handicap with the slower athletes going off first, so all the athletes knew what they had to do, to win. The winner in the Grand prix was Richard Connolly, followed by Mark Gilvarry and Pat Bonass. Thanks to the officials on the night, as most of the athletes all finished closely together, it made it a difficult job to take names and times.
The next race is Thursday 13th June, in Santry on the grass at 8.00.
