Nov 24, 2008 [Noel Guiden] There were a number of good performances from the small number of Clonliffe athletes competing in yesterday`s National Inter County Cross Country at wet and windswept Tramore Racecourse. David Flynn looks like he has earner selection for the Irish team for the Europeans in Belgium on December 14th with a fighting 3rd place finish. Eoin Pearce also ran well taking 17th place and both earned National Inter County team gold as scorring members of the Dublin team. Mark McDonald was just out of the scorring positions in 21st place. Whilst in the senior men`s race Brian McMahon, wearing the colours of County Cork was 9th and took County team silver.
In the Junior women`s race Kate Purcell placed 19th.
In the National Juvenile (even ages) Jamie Rossiter had another excellent run taking county gold with Dublin as a result of his 17th place in the boys U/18 race. Conor McGuinness was 43rd and Gregg McLoughlin 80th in that race.
Sarah Finnegan also picked up inter county gold with Dublin placing an excellent 14th in the girls U/18.
The Juvenile action switches to Cavan on Sunday week, December 7th, for the National uneven ages where a substancial Clonliffe presence is expected.
