Day 3 of National Juveniles brings Indoor season to a close.

The final day of the Indoor season, Day 3 of the National Juvenile Championships took place at AIT Athlone today. Although no medals are coming back to Santry the Clonliffe athletes in action put in solid displays. Craig Giles was in very good form in the U/19 800 comfortably qualifying for the final after winning his heat in 2.00.84. In the final lady luck failed to shine. Running an excellent race Craig was always well in the hunt and indeed was looking good for at least silver went he went down meters from the line and ended up 4th in 1.59.63.

Hannah Browne enjoyed a good day with a 2 second PB in the U/19 800 final of 2.21.19 taking her to a battling 5th place.

Cian Bolger had a day to put behind him in U/18 800 finishing 6th in his heat (2.07.45), likewise Ella Brown had a disappointing run in the U/17 800, 6th in 2.35.56.

Jonathan Fitzsimons ran well in the U/14 800 with a new PB of 2.24.47 run to 5th place in his heat.

In the 200s Alex Twomey was 3rd in her U/16 heat (26.81) and Emma McDonnell was 4th in hers (27.35). Rebecca Fitzsimons battled gamely in her U/18 heat to 3rd place with her 26.47 securing her a place in the final where she places 6th (27.00).

Thus indoors comes to a close. The good news of course is that rust never sleeps and the outdoor seasons starts in a matter of weeks!
