More renowned as a javelin thrower Denise Byrne turned to the sprints this weekend with considerable success. Denise won the Leinster 200m indoor title at Athlone IT in a time of 28.23 on Saturday the 2nd. Louise Reilly also took a Leinster title winning the 1500m in 4.46. Becky Woods followed up her fine intervarsities 1500m gold performance the previous day by taking silver in the 800 in the Leinsters in a time of 2.18.3. Mark McDonald had a fine run in the 800 running an indoor PB of 1.53.86.
Meanwhile at the Leinster Masters at the same venue Kathryn Walley took O/50 gold over 400 in a time of 74.75. George Maybury took silver in the 400m O/55 in a time of 69.52.
