Doran retains club 10 mile championship

The Clonliffe club 10 mile championships  included in the 14th round of the Grand Prix Series took place in torrential rain in the grounds of Malahide Castle today.

Thankfully fears of fallen trees on the circuit from storm Callum proved unfounded but instead the almost 60 starters negotiated large areas of standing water dumped by the non stop overnight and morning rains.

With 4 laps of the grounds to look forward to the field were sent on their way at noon with a great turn out of stewards on course.

Winner of the Ahern Cup and the 2018 club champion making it two in a row was Sean Doran in a good time of 55.11. 2nd was Dermot Faughan with Shane Casey 3rd. Women’s champion was Aideen Brady 70.35, 2nd Aimee Ahern with Clodagh Moriarty 3rd.

Full results soon.

Next Grand Prix races are the November deciders on the country: the Irwin Cup and the Horan Cup, the final two races of the 2018 series.
