Double team silver in Dublin road novice

May 10, 2007 [Noel Guiden] At last night`s Dublin Road Novice Championships in Lucan there was double success for Clonliffe in the team events when both our ladies and mens teams won silver. The 5K Championship was held in conjunction with Lucan Harriers Tom Byrne Memorial Race and thankfully there was no repeat of last year`s controversy when our men were days later declared winners and days later undeclared so when as a result of unreliable results the Novice Championship for 2006 was effectively declared null and void.

Emma Cooper lead home the ladies in 19:05 and together with Rachael McBride (20:08), Joyce O`Hare (21:48) and Carmel ? (25:40) were second behind Sportsworld.

In the mens race Kevin English continues his fine form with a time of 16:38. Followed by new kid on the block Fergal Hartnett with an excellent 16:52, just behind him in 16:56 was David Lipscomb 16:56 with the ever green Tom Griffin (17:35) being the forth scorer taking second behind Tallaght AC in the team competition.

Our other men were also in good form Jeremy Walsh running 17:52 ,Maurice McCrohan 18:12 and Kieran Murphy ,only weeks after the London Marathon running his second race in three days, running 18:30
