The IUAA track and field championships took place this weekend in Athlone. Cathal Doyle took an excellent 5000 title with a track pb of 14.39.25 with Sean O’Leary 2nd in 14.44.34, also a track pb.
In the long jump Keith Marks once again prevailed winning with a best jump of 7.16m in round 5, this represents his best ever opening in an outdoor season. Keith also took High Jump bronze (1.85m).
Also on Saturday the 6th at the McNeese Spring Classic in Lake Charles, USA Brian Flanagan continued his good form and was first collegiate athlete in the 1500 in 4.00.97.
Today, Sunday the 7th Simon Galligan placed 2nd in the hammer at the Athletics Ireland Spring Throws at Athlone IT with a best throw of 56.61. Evergreen Frances Mansfield was 9th in the 3kg hammer (15.78) and 16th in the discus (13.08).
