Dublin Indoors comes to an end with more success for Clonliffe

The final day of the Dublin indoor Championships for juvenile athletes at NIA Abbottstown brought more success for Clonliffe athletes. Nicole Lippy won gold in the girls U/17 pole vault, gold also for Jonas Norvaisis in the boys U/17 shot putt. In the relays the girls U/19 4 x 200 squad of Kirsten McGrady – Hogan, Amy Hodson, Vicky Mc Donald and Emma McDonnell took silver. The boys U/17 team were unlucky to place fourth, the team of Keith Burke, Andrew Gaffney, Adam Bateson and James Macdonald were battling away in the fight for bronze however a mere 15 m from the line the unfortunate James suffered a hamstring injury but in true Clonliffe spirit struggled on limping across the line. Likewise the U/17 girls team were unlucky and unfortunately did not make the final of their race but still encouraging performances from Natalia Gill, Sally Sumola, Ali Duffy and Danni.

That brings the curtain down on the 2020 Dublin indoor championships. Congratulations to all our athletes particularly those who medalled and who will now go on to the national finals to be held in Athlone in late March/early April.
