It was another unbelievable weekend for Edel Maguire in Derby at the British Masters Track & Field. On Saturday Edel took W60 400 silver in 66.25, a new Irish Masters record, bettering the previous record of 66.53, held by Edel herself. Then today Edel took double gold, 200 in 28.55, an Irish record, which Edel held at 28.78, and a championship record. Edel also bagged High Jump gold 1.43m, bettering the previous record of 1.40, held by, yes Edel Maguire!
A few other Clonliffe athletes were in late season action. On Saturday Eoin Pierce was 1st in the B 800 at the BMC meet in Gillingham in 1.54.00. Today at the Newham and Essex Beagles Meet in Stretford Brian Gregan was 3rd in the 400 in 47.26. Marcus Lawler at the same meet was a busy man 5th in heat 3 of the 100 in 10.88 in series 1 and in series 2 5th in a SB of 10.76. Later in the 200 another SB of 21.05, again placing 5th.
