Emma Mitchell ran 16.30 in the Carlingford 5k on Friday evenings to take 1st woman and 30th overall.
On Saturday 6th August, Jenny Johnston and Joe Gibbons travelled to Templemore Athletic Club for the “Templemore Throws Festival”.
Jenny had season’s best throws of 28.79m in the javelin (600g), 27.21m in the discus(1kg) for 2nd place in each and 20.06m in the hammer (4kg) for 4th place. A disappointing shot (4kg) of 7.73m for 4th and a first time attempt at the 9kg weight throw of 6.11m also for 4th place.
After a long day of throwing, Jenny placed 6th with 1862 points against a competitive field in the Ultra CE Masters throws pentathlon.
Joe Gibbons competing in the O60 category threw 2.94m for 2nd in the WFD (35lbs), 5.83m in the 5kg shot and 13.57m in the javelin (600g) for 3rd in each. Also placing 4th in the 1kg discus with a throw of 21.75m.
