Eoin McDonnell selected for Youth Olympics

Jun 28, 2007 [Noel Guiden] The Olympic Council of Ireland have finalised Ireland`s team for the European Youth Olympics which take place in Belgrade between the 21st and 28th of July. Clonliffe are proud to say that one of our brightest prospects Eoin McDonnell has been selected to run the 800m. Eoin has been in excellent form this season having won All Ireland School`s Gold over 1500m earlier on in the Summer. He achieved the qualifying time for the EYO by running a PB of 1:55.19 in a graded meeting in Irishtown on May 23rd and has since lowered his PB by running a superb 1:54.3 in that magnificent 800 Club championship only last Sunday.The Games themselves are the largest of their kind in Europe, some 3,000 young athletes, U/17, from 40 countries will take part.
