Reporting live from Birmingham Airport (delayed flight) Day two dawned with another full days action in the Alexander Stadium.
The field eventers were very much to the fore today, Simon Galligan in the Hammer was 8th 52.76, whilst Rolus Oulsa was in the pole vault where he placed 9th with a 4.00m pb. Niall Counihan was in the triple jump where he finished 10th and the final field eventer of the day was Luke Mangan in the shot putt again a 10th place finish.
On the track Timmy Crowe after his 400 hurdles yesterday took over from the injuried Rolus Olusa to take in the 110 hurdles where he placed 4th in his heat in 15.90.
In the middle distance events Cathal Doyle was the star of the day with an excellent run to 5th place with a 4 second pb if 3.51.69 in the 1500 and Colm Rooney in the 5000 had a tough afternoon in 8th place.
Jeremy Phillips was the Clonliffe representative in the 200 today where he placed ran 21.80.
The final event of the day was the very exciting 4 x 400 where the Clonliffe quartet of Luke Lennon-Ford, Dara Kervick, Mark McDonald and young Craig Giles ran very well 4th in heat 1 in 3.19.60.
When the final totals were added up the Clonliffe team had fared very well in what was a top class competition featuring World Champions and olympians to finish in 9th place.
