Mar 20, 2011 [Noel Guiden] News from the Irish Masters team at the European Masters Indoor/Cross Cross Country in Gent, Belgium confirms a silver team medal for Clonliffe`s Pat Bonass in the O/65 cross country race. By all accounts the team ran very well in the race which was held in a Park in the Flanders Sports Arena Complex and with Frank Reilly 1st (19.56), Pat Bonass 5th (22.06) and Clonliffe Grand Prix series regular Pat Healy 6th (22.28) the lads very much expected to take the gold medal, however, there was a “championship clip” issue which lead to a dispute and when the result was announced some hours post race there was some surprise at Belgium taking gold with the Irish in 2nd place. This is a provisional result at this stage.
Other Irish results at these championships include Frank Reilly taking O/65 3,000 gold, double gold for Joe Gough in 800/1500 and double gold for Bobby King in the 3,000 indoor walk and 5,000 road walk.
