In blazing sunshine the younger members of the Clonliffe family did fantastic in the Dublin Team Competition held in the Morton Stadium today. This competition is an excellent introduction for the youngest athletes geared towards the U/9s, 10s and 11s. Being team based it also brings out great team building for these young athletes. With the wonderful weather it was a packed excited stadium that witnessed some outstanding performances across the whole range of track and field.
The U/11 girls teams dominated the 60m with the A pair of Sally Samola/Naoise Cullen winning and the B pair of Michelle Isong/Katie Edwards 3rd.
Jonathon Fitzsimons had another busy and productive day first off with Adam Flynn winning the 500m and then with Mark Tarzan was 2nd in the long jump.
The U/9 pairing of Daniel Coleman/Cian O`Hare were also top of the pile winning the long jump and 2nd in the 300m. The U/11 pair of James McDonnell/Michael Coleman took 2nd in the javelin. Finally in the relays Clonliffe enjoyed success with the U/10 team of Isabel Browne, Rachel Power, Oonagh Rigney and Katie Edwards finishing 2nd and the U/11 team (Michael Coleman, James McDonnell, Gavin Browne and Keith Burke) 3rd.
