Clonliffe`s Hope Saunders finished a fantastic 35th place at this morning`s European Cross Country Junior women`s race in Bulgaria. Hope was competing in her first international in the Irish vest and displayed great maturity in running a composed race. After lap 1 Hope was just out of the top 60 and then used her great strength to gradually work her way through the field to finish in 35th place and lead the Irish team home to 10th place. A great debut at this level by the Irish Inter Counties champion who will still be a junior for the next 2 championships!
Brandon Hargreaves produced a solid run in the men`s U/23 finishing in 40th place, 3rd scorer on the Irish team that placed 9th. Brandon was always positioned well in the race in and around 40th to 45th and will be reasonably happy with his race on what was his Irish debut.
