Festive racing roundup (updated)

Over the course of the Christmas holidays it’s been very much a case of “Clonliffe on Tour” with our athletes in action in as diverse locations as New York City, Clonmel and Athenry.

The roundup starts at the Armory in New York City on December 23 where Davey Davitt was in action at the North Shore Indoor Invitational winning the high school boys 600 in a time of 1:21.34 and also placing 2nd in the 300 in 35.14.

Wednesday the 27th in Navan, Fintan Keirns ran a 20 second 5k road PB while finishing 2nd in the Robbie & Rita 5k in 15.24. Fintan led the Clonliffe team of Sean Doran, 11th (16.39) and Stephen Harkness, 38th (18.43) to 3rd place.

Also the Fat Turkey 10k took place from Sutton to Howth and back today, as tough a race as 2 day old roast turkey, Aoife Kinehan recorded a time of 50.24, almost two and a half minutes faster than last year.

Finally on this morning Eugene Coppinger’s training group had their traditional Christmas mountain run with a well attended pack of 25 plus taking part.
