Fine season openers for Gregan and Scullion

Clonliffe athletes were in action at various locations yesterday June 1st. Brian Gregan ran his first 400 of the season taking a win in the International Flanders Meet in Oordegen, Belgium in an excellent 45.82 ahead of 2nd Mame-Ibra Anne (FRA) 46.26 and 3rd Andrew Steele (GBR) 46.79. Gregan declared himself satisfied with his season opener “in coldish windy conditions”. At the same meet Ciara McCallion ran 57.83 in the womens international 400 finishing 7th.

A great opener also last night at the big BMC Meet in Manchester from Stephen Scullion running a 5,000 pb of 13.58.55 in placing 3rd. Eleanor Alexander was also in Sportscity, Manchester where she placed 8th in the B 1500 in 4.33.92. At the IMC races held in Tullamore during the All Ireland Schools Dave Fitzmaurice had a disappointing outing running 4.03.12 in the 1500.

Tomas Rauktys was in action mid week when he set a new club record of  55.64m in the discus extending his previous record of 54.97 he also threw 17.17 in the shot at the same meet. Finally Dima Serjoggins now back home in Latvia ran a new 1500m pb this week of 3.53.

At the Irish Universities/Scottish Universities match in Tallaght also on June 1st Becky Woods won the 1500 in 4.35.
