The club are very much looking forward to Wednesday’s Brother schools cross country invitational taking place in Trinity Sports Grounds. Entry to the event is now closed, Clonliffe juvenile members who’s school may not have entered can enter as individuals by coming to check-in at the venue on the day (entry fee for Clonliffe juvenile’s running as individuals is €5). Clonliffe and Brother are delighted with the response with the event attracting a bumper entry of in excess of 1700 young athletes representing almost 30 primary schools and 35 secondary schools from all over Dublin and beyond.

2024 Brother Schools Cross Country Final Instructions
Date: Wednesday 2th of October 2024
Venue: Trinity Sports Grounds, Santry Avenue, Santry, Dublin 9
Bus parking: Trinity Sports Grounds, Santry Avenue. For health and safety reasons it is not permissible for buses to allow passengers to alight until such time as the bus has actually parked. Please obey the directions of the parking attendant. Bus overflow parking is available at Morton Stadium, after athletes are dropped to Trinity Sports Grounds.
Car parking: there is no event car parking available at Trinity sports grounds. This car park is exclusively for buses, for both logistic and health and safety reasons. If parents or others wish to attend please request them to attend by public transport or if they do wish to drive they must find their own car parking elsewhere. Please be aware that no parking is permitted on Santry Avenue itself, anyone arriving by car must obey the traffic and parking laws.
Check in: at the course, one person only, you will receive an envelope with bibs and a refuse sack for litter.
Bibs: School identification sticker (1 per athlete, the sheet contains 4) to be fixed to the FRONT of the athlete’s running vest/t-shirt.
Toilet facilities: At Trinity
PLEASE DO NOT GO ONTO THE FOOTBALL PITCHES for any reason whatsoever. Please note that encroachment onto football pitches will affect the excellent relationship we have with Trinity College and may have an adverse impact upon future events.
Course: The surface athletes will be running on is short grass, the grass may be slippy in the light of recent rain, therefore if spikes are available they should be worn. Each lap is approximately 1000m, where the race distance is 1500m athletes will complete a shorter 500m lap followed by the 1000m lap.

– 12.10 – 4 th class boys 1000M
– 12.20 – 5 th class girls 1000M
– 12.30 – 5 th class boys 1000M
– 12.40 – 6 th class girls 1000M
– 12.50 – 6 th class boys 1000M
Secondary Schools;
– 1.00 – Minor girls 1000M
– 1.15 – Minor boys 1500M
– 1.30 – Junior girls 1500M
– 1.45 – Junior Boys 2000M
– 2.00 – Inter girls 2000M
– 2.15 – Inter boys 3000M
– 2.35 – Senior girls 2000M
– 2.50 – Senior boys 4000M
Awards: First three individuals in each race – presentation will be made to the individuals immediately after each race.
Team awards: First 3 athletes to score the lowest score will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie the winner will be decided on the basis of the highest finish of the 3rd scoring athlete from the tying schools. Team awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams.
Souvenir T-shirt: There will be a souvenir T-shirt for all athletes which will be presented at the finish of each race.
Best Schools: Our sponsor Brother will make arrangements to make a presentation of a piece of Brother office equipment to the best boys primary school, best girls primary school, best boys secondary school and best girls secondary school.
Litter: Please do not leave any letter. we would suggest you to appoint an individual/individuals to be responsible for the removal of all litter generated by your athletes. Please use the refuse bag supplied in your pack.
Results: results, (the top 3 individuals and top 3 schools only are recorded) & photographs (by taking part in this race it isassumed that you are consenting to photographs being published – photographs will not identify any individuals) will be published that night on www.clonliffeharriersac.com
Health and Safety: Please obey the instructions of all marshals at the venue.
No athlete is permitted to race barefoot.
Teachers, pupils and parents should not encroach onto the course at any time.
Medical Emergencies: St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance.
Event officials: please note that all officials working at the event are volunteers from Clonliffe Harriers AC who are giving freely and willingly of their time, please ensure that all members of your school respect our officials and accept any decisions. All course builders to report to the venue at 8 AM. Other official/marshals to report at 10:30 AM. The only car parking permitted at the venue is for officials/marshals however car parking will not be available for those beyond 10:30 AM.
