Gary O`Hanlon finishes 2nd in Cork City Marathon

Gary O`Hanlon has just crossed the line in 2nd position in the Cork City Marathon. The result mirrored the 2013 result with Poland`s Bartosz Mazerski 1st and Gary 2nd. There was a titanic battle on the streets of Cork with the Clonliffe man, no doubt having rested well this week after his Newry Marathon win 7 days ago, doing his upmost to shake off the defending champion. Gary leading for most of the race distance, holding the lead from miles 5 to 18/19 and at one stage opening a 30m lead. The Pole however battled back opening a lead himself at 19 miles only to fine our man Gary back on his shoulder again and at miles 23 to 25 it was neck and neck until Bartosz found an extra gear to open a slight lead on the run in crossing the line in 2.28.38 with Gary a mere 7 seconds in arrears (2.28.45)
