Gary wins National 50k in record time

Gary O`Hanlon, after warming up last weekend with a win in the Clonakilty Marathon, today won the National 50k Championships held in Donadea Forest Park in a new Irish Record of 2:56.51. Over the course of the race the Clonliffe man, and Louth GAA endurance coach, averaged 3.31 per km. The race was held over a 5km loop with Gary opening in 18:25 before getting into the groove and reeling off laps of in and around 17:30 recording laps of: 17:29, 17:25, 17:31, 17:26, 17:29, 17:37, 17:39, 17:49 and on the glory lap an 18:01 secured the Irish Record.
