The sixth graded meeting of the summer took place on Wednesday the 14th of June at the Irishtown Stadium, Ringsend, with a smattering of Clonliffe athletes taking part. Performance of the night undoubtedly goes to Emma Cooper in the 3000M when she ran a very strong race to finish 2nd and record a PB of 10:26. Emma ran a very controlled race, the race was taken out at a very fast pace by DSD’s Ashling Baker, Emma attached herself to a Raheny group consisting of Fiona McGreevy, Caitriona Hooper and Aoife Talty and over the final two laps Emma picked her Raheny opposition off one by one moving from 4th to 2nd place over the final 200M and closing at a rapid rate on Ashling Baker, however Ashling held on for the win in a time of 10:25. Emma however was rewarded with a fine PB and her fabulous form of late continues.
The mens 3000M Clonliffe’s representative in the combined B and C race, Noel Guiden, was somewhat disappointed with his run in recording a time of 10:26.
Better things were in store for Clonliffe runners in the 800M with Colm Rooney again showing fine form in winning the A race, indeed there were actually 2 A races in view of the numbers entered for the 800, in the fastest time of the day 1:56.6. Stephen Harkness again had a strong run recording a time of 2:02.5with Kevin English recording a time of 2:05.57. John Fay again represented the club with distinction running a time of 2:16.72 as indeed did George Mayburyrecording a time of 2:23.64.
The next graded meeting takes place in the Morton Stadium, Santry on Wednesday the 28th of June and consists of 100M sprints, 400M and 1 Mile races.
