Team Ireland continued today where they had left off at the conclusion of day 2 in Silesia, Poland clocking up points and wins. At the end of the competition Ireland sat proudly at the top of division 3 of the European team Championships to gain automatic qualification to division 2. The Irish team gathered a total of 494 points, over 20 points clear of Austria 2nd on 473.5, with Israel finishing 3rd in 434 points. Clonliffe athlete Grace Casey finished 5th in the javelin competition this morning after a throw of 42.04. Grace along with fellow Clonliffe athletes Cathal Doyle, 2nd in yesterday’s 1500 and Chris Sibanda, 1st in yesterday’s 4 x 100 relay can be justifiably proud of the contribution they made to what was a superb Irish team performance.
