Round 13 of the Grand Prix Series, incorporating the club 10,000 championships, the Bonass Trophy takes place on Thursday night, the 15th with an 8.00pm start. This is one of the very few track 10,000 races that takes place in Ireland on an annual basis, and Thursday will be the 31st year that Pat Bonass has sponsored this race.
25 laps is a tough one physically and mentally for both athletes and officials (as always any spare officials please come along), last year the Bonass Trophy once again attracted a big field lead home by Thomas Sherlock, who all being well will defend his championship on Thursday, a strong challenge will come from Sean Doran, last year`s runner up, and possibly also from Declan Power.
With the Grand Prix leaderboard currently showing a tie between Deirdre Fitzsimons and Raheny Raider Dave Brady, this round could be vital as after Thursday only three rounds remain: The Ahern Cup/Club 10 mile, and on the country the Horan Cup and Irwin Cup.
Post race Pat Bonass will present prizes to the first three, also on the night there will be a launch of “A Golden Era” by Michael Gygax will take place in the Clonliffe Harriers Bar at 9.00 pm.
