Mick Kearney reports: Grand Prix, O’Connor Cup, Thursday July 7th. In glorious sunshine in the picturesque Santry Demesne 36 athletes competed in this year’s O’Connor Cup. The four-lap course was in excellent condition.
Niall Carberry continuing his good form led from start to finish posting a time of 19.18.
There was a battle royal for second place with Cian Murray and Anto Doyle going head-to-head. At the finish Cian just shaded it in a time of 20.10 with Anto clocking a close 20.12.
In the Grand Prix competition Joe Fowler was in first place , in second was Colm Doran while Pat Devitt was in third.
A big thank you to all the officials on the night. A special thank you to Maurice , Johnny, Ben and Noel for preparing the course. Thanks to Caroline for the post-race refreshments.
