Report by Liam Hennessy; The Grand Prix Series continued last Thursday, June 7th with the running of The O’Connor Cup – 4 mile Grass Race, held at The Santry demesne. Kindly sponsored by Alan Worrall. The evening proved perfect conditions for this superb summer race. The course was well flagged, we had 16 officials and many more that we could have called upon, which was great. Instructions were given by the race director, the bugle was sounded and 55 runners were on their way !!!.

The presentation also took place for the Mc Carrick Plate – 2.5 mile Race, which was held at Malahide on May 24th last and which was kindly sponsored by Paul O’Loughlin. The result of the handicap for The Mc Carrick Plate was as follows;
1st – Yvonne Mc Donagh – Winner of Mc Carrick Plate
2nd – Orla Deighan
3rd – Aimee Ahern

A special presentation took place where Joe Roy was presented with a medal he won 60 years ago, but was unavailable to receive at the time (better late than never !!), congrats Joe. By coincidence Joe Roy won the O’Connor Cup in 1960 !!!
