Whilst most eyes were focused on the Morton Games on Wednesday night Eoin Pierce was in action at the BMC Meet in Watford where he ran a superb 3.47.70 in winning race B by almost two seconds. This time is only .7 off his pb and is a great boost for Eoin ahead of next weekend`s Nationals.
Friday night and Declan Power placed 2nd in the Edenderry 5k in 16.10. Saturday at the le Chile International where very string winds ruled out any hopes of fast times Ian Guiden was 3rd in the 3000 in 8.43.5 with Adam O`Brien running an 8.50.5 pb, and one would bet he was the only athlete at the meet to pb, in 5th. Cathal Doyle was 2nd in the B 800 in 1.56.6 with Mark McDonald 6th (1.59.30). Eleanor Alexander was 5th in the 1500 (4.32.8)
In the UK on Saturday at the Midland League, Cheltenham Liam Roarty was 7th in the 5000 in 16.14.
A big pb for Karl Nolan in today`s Mullingar 10 Mile of 57.35, knocking two minutes off his previous best. Also today in the Celbridge 5k Sean Doran had a fine run to 3rd place in 16.05.
