Great season’s opener for Cathal Doyle, plus round up

After a frustrating period of injury Cathal Doyle was back racing for the 1st time this season on Friday night, May 5th, at the Oregon twilight meet. An impressive opening seasons 1500 it proved to be as Cathal finished 2nd in a fast 3.39.96.

On Wednesday night Ben Coughlan finished 2nd in a tactical 5 K Road race in Tipperary in a time of 15.35.

Saturday the 6th saw some of the Clonliffe junior women head to Cavan for the Run with Caitriona 5k. A well worth while trip it turned out to be with the girls well up in the junior category: 2nd Hazel Kenny (20.17), 4th Ciara Sheehy (21.13) and 6th Mya O’Reilly (22.26).

Also on Saturday at the Ivy League Championships in Philadelphia Sean Kay was 7th in the 10,000 in 30.10.90. Missed from a couple of week’s back, April 21st was Sean’s 10,000 PB of 29.41.71 in Charlottesville, placing him 14th on the Clonliffe All time list.

Sunday the 7th David Brady was 10th in the Navan 6k in 21.59 and Liam Roarty had a fine run in the Sunderland City 10k placing 11th in 34.33, over a hilly tough course.
