Green for Go as Clonliffe athletes head to European Cross Country

The very best of luck to our three athletes who on Sunday run in the nineteenth European Cross Country Championships. It will be an historical day for Clonliffe as Sara McCormack becomes the first Clonliffe athlete to run in the senior women’s race at these championships. Dave Fitzmaurice earns his second call up for the U/23 race, a feat previously achieved by David Flynn and Ian Guiden becomes the third Clonliffe athlete to run in the Junior Men’s race.

Club statistician Killian Lonergan has compiled particulars of every Clonliffe athlete to compete in these championships which makes very interesting reading, Mark Kenneally is the most decorated Clonliffe athlete having competed in seven Europeans and shares with Alistair Cragg the top performance finishing in eighth place in Dublin in 2009, Alistair achieved his 8th place in Medulin back in 2002.

There will be live coverage of the European Cross Country on RTE 2 on Sunday from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
