Gregan out, but finishes 19th in the World

Clonliffe’s Brian Gregan finished 6th in his Semi Final at the London World Championships this evening. Running in lane 8 of 9, Brian kept his composure when two Olympic champions came past him at 200m. This season it’s been the second half of the race where Brian’s strength has shown, and tonight was no different.

Catching the Kenyan athlete on the home straight and former World and Olympic champion LaShawn Merritt on the line, Brian’s time was 45.42, resulting in a 19th place finish overall. An excellent performance. In his post race interview Brian stated, ”I went out there and I had all the best guys in the world around me. It was tough but I’m fairly satisfied.

Back at home, Gary O’Hanlon returned to racing after several months out with injury. He finished 3rd in the Duleek 10km with a time of 32.04. Sean Doran was 6th in 34.17. Fergus Keenan was 46th in a time of 41.26
