Gregan scorches to new club 200 record at AAI Games (updated)

Brian Gregan re wrote the Clonliffe record book yet again with a blistering 200 of 21.05, breaking his 2011 record of 21.09, at this afternoon`s AAI Games at sun kissed Morton Stadium. A time which sets Brian up nicely for the coming weeks, a busy week in store with races in Spain and Sweden. There were other fine performances from the club`s athletes today: Paul Whelan won his 100 in 11.09 and placed 4th in the Gregan 200 in 21.98, Isreal Ibeanu was 3rd (11.24),  Keith Pike won his 100 in 11.15. Leah Moore ran 12.53 in the 100 and 24.59 in the 200. Sophia Ellis placed 7th in the 400m recording a time of 59.87.

In the 5000 it was good to see Mark Kenneally line up and come through the race comfortably with a gun to flag win in 14.28.91. Mark McDonald ran 3.59.20 in the 1500. In the field events Caoimhe Morris was 2nd in the hammer (32.46) and 3rd in the discus (32.46). Denise Byrne was 3rd in the javelin (38.70) and Ian Rogers 4th in the pole vault (4.40)

Meanwhile in England Kris Valters ran an 800 sb of 1.53, at the same meet Edgar ran 4.01 for 1500 and then an hour later ran the 3000 in 8.55. Becky Woods competed in Innsbruck in a mixed 800, 3rd overall and 1st woman in 2.13.3. Lorna Begley ran a pb of 2.18.
