Brian Gregan’s successful comeback from injury, with a third-place finish in the national indoors, took another huge step forward today with the announcement by Athletics Ireland of his selection on the 4 x 400 relay squad for the world indoor championships in Belgrade on the 18th to 20th of March.
A delighted Brian Gregan posted on Twitter: ‘five torrid years of injury and questioning why as I was putting everything in but getting no return. Finally seeing that return now as I make my first Irish team since 2017’ . (A message for every young athlete going through a tough time with injury to take on board)
Also selected on that squad, as a non-travelling reserve, is clubmate Marcus Lawler. This is possibly the biggest team selected for a world indoors with 11 individual athletes plus a men and women’s 4 x 400 relay teams. The full team selection can be found on athleticsireland.ie
