Young Sean Cronin suffered a heartbreaking evening at the EYOF yesterday. Sean, bronze medalist last year, was in the 1500 final and looking to go even better than 2022, but…..off the final bend and in a group of athletes all jostling for position he had the heart break of finishing 4th, in what would have been a 3 53.8 PB, only to suffer the further heartbreak of a DQ for obstructing another athlete. Team Ireland of course appealed but the track referees decision was upheld. That’s a real tough one for a young athlete. Head up Sean, there will be much better days and years ahead. Nil desperandum.
