Heney jumps to second club record of weekend at Varsities

Results are finally to hand from Friday’s Varsities Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Athlone IT. Clonliffe’s Andrew Heney claimed the second Clonliffe indoor record of the weekend as he jumped to 2.05 to secure second place in the competition (on Saturday of course Declan Murray set a new club indoor 800 record).

Also competing in the Varsities championships was Keith Pike who ran 6.99 to win his 60m heat and then in the final recorded a time of 6.95 in finishing 5th. Chris Sibanda had a particularly busy weekend, in the 60m he recorded a time of 7.08 in the heat and then placed 6th in a time of 7.04 in the final. He also competed in the long jump where he placed 4th with a best of 6.74m and then was a member of the University of Limerick’s victorious 4 x 200 relay team. Also enjoying a busy afternoon were Clonliffe trio of Antonio Garcia who was 5th in the 60 hurdles and was 2nd on the DCU 4 x 200 relay team along with clubmates Dara Kervick and Timmy Crowe. The latter pair of course had competed in the 400, Dara running 48.77 in his heat and then in placing 2nd ran 47.28, Timmy running 49.78 in his heat and then finishing 3rd in the final 48.28. Also competing was Laoise Moggan in the 800 recording a time of 2.42.06.
