Hope battles to third in Celtic Games appearance

Yesterday’s mixed day of weather saw the Irish Celtic team win the combined scoring title in Morton Stadium. Our own Hope Saunders finished a highly commendable third in the Women’s Under 18 3000m, in  a time of 10.34.11. This was a great performance and less than a quarter of a second outside her personal best time.

Interesting to note that the winner of the Men’s Under 18 Hammer was Ireland’s Owen Russell from St. Andrews. He’s the son of Clonliffe’s Hammer record holder James Russell, presently living in Rhode Island.

Back on the roads Serigu Ciobanu followed up his win on Friday night with a 4th place in last nights Streets of Galway 8k. His time of 24.13 saw him finish just 3 seconds outside third. Davy Byrne’s time of 27.00 secured a third place finish in the over 40 category.
