Round 3 of the Dublin Graded Meets took place on a perfect night for running at Irishtown last night. On a night of PBs for several of the Clonliffe junior squad pride of place went to Hope Saunders who had a fine run in the first of the mixed grade mile races and in the process wrote her name into the club record books by recording a new junior women`s club record of 5.26.64, also going under the existing mark of 5.35.4 was Alannah Cooley (5.31.25). Sally Ahen in the 2nd women`s mile recorded a time of 5.49.43
In the men`s mile Shane Merrigan maintained his 100% win record in the graded meets, on the night moving up to grade B, and again looking a class apart as he hit the front with 500 to go and ran out a clear winner in 4.51.72 after an 80 second opener! A great Clonliffe presence in this race including Liam Roarty 4.56.40, Greg Hosseny 4.58.56, Alex Hogan 5.00.26 , and Niall Sherlock 5.02.63.
Josh Stubbs took chunks off his pb in the B mile running an excellent 4.37.59 while Sean Carrigg also made substancial inroads into his pb in recording a time of 4.39.61. Tom Sherlock ran 4.41.11.
Louise Reilly was 3rd in the 3,000 in 10.18.74, Kate Hession 7th in the B 400 (69.1), Ciaran McCarthy 16.10 in the 5,000 and Thomas Dorina won a poorly supported triple jump competition with a best of 11.72. Frances Mansfield was 2nd in the discus (14.08)
Meanwhile under the radar, or so he thinks, Hans De Raeymaeker on Tuesday night was 21st in the Mullingar 5k Road Series in 18.34.
