Bright and early this morning in Dublin’s Phoenix Park Ian Guiden won the national 5 Mile Road championship in a fast 23.44. On a blustery morning with intermittent showers Ian took up the running from the off and was on his own from about half way, a fast 2nd mile having done the damage, to take his 1st national senior title by a little over half a minute. Tom Sherlock took the M35 title (26.35) with Anto Doran 3rd (28.17), these 3 along with Alan Worrall (36.32) finished in 5th place in the team standings. Meghan O’Keeffe had a fine run finishing 10th senior woman in 31.20. Orla Deighnan was 8th W 45 (36.44).
Round up: Friday the 10th Elaine McLoughlin was 68th in the Braveheart 5k Trail Race in 22.10.
Saturday the 11th, Dave Brady was 3rd in the Glenmore Challenge 10 mil on the Cooley Peninsula, Co. Louth.
