Ich bin ein Berliner

Shane Rooney reports almost live from Berlin: The Black & Amber was a vision of beauty as 29 Clonliffe athletes, supported by Coach Pam and Catherine (the Dodgeball Warrior), ran the RBB LAUF 1/3 Marathon in Potsdam, Berlin on Sunday 29th April.

Despite a full day of sightseeing of Berlin (led by cycling duo Anne & Dave L), followed by a few fizzy “waters” on Saturday, Team Clonliffe, were full of excitement and anticipation as they skipped and leapt to the start line on a glorious Sunday morning.

The team were led home by Anthony D (59:18), Mick B (59:26), Fergal (1:01:40), Mick G (1:02:22), Declan (1:04:01), Aisling (1:05:45), Siobhan (1:05:46), Aideen (1:06:02), Adrien (1:06:20), Laura (1:06:28), Aoife (1:08:05), Dave R (1:10:28), Sharon (1:10:30), Mel C (1:12:08), Niall (1:12:28), Anne (1:12:29), Caroline (1:13:30), Orla (1:14:19), Yvonne (1:15:35), Evelyn (1:16:08), Mandy (1:16:10), Sinead D (1:16:21), Dave L (1:19:57), Joanne (1:20:02), Katie (1:20:03), Janette (1:20:49), Darren (1:21:23), Viv (1:28:11) and Ciara F (1:30:42)

The athletes were celebrated and welcomed by the organisers and locals, especially when they stripped and jumped into the local lake showing off their summer bodies and glowing like milk bottles in the German spring sunshine.

Congratulations to all involved, especially those who organised another wonderful and fun event.

Following the success of Budapest in 2017 and Berlin in 2018, talk has turned to where next for the annual (social) event, will it be Barcelona, Bali or Beaumont!!!
Dig in and just keep running.
