Introducing our new Ladies Captain & Vice Captain

Clonliffe are delighted to announce that the committee at it’s recent meeting co-opted Jenny Johnston to the position of ladies captain with Laura Tuite as ladies vice captain. The committee wish to thank both athletes for their commitment to these most important positions. No doubt both will put as much enthusiasm and energy into these roles as they do as athletes. They have certainly, if you will excuse the pun, hit the ground running with the capturing of the Leinster senior women’s cross country title on Sunday. Next up will be the national senior cross-country at home on November 21, then the Dublin intermediate cross country on November 28 at Tymon Park North and the national novice cross country seven days later on December 5. The committee wish both Jenny and Laura every success going forward with the full support of the committee and the club’s coaches. Below you will find an introduction from Jenny and Laura:

“Hello All, As you may be aware, myself and Laura Tuite were recently co-opted by the club’s committee to the positions of Ladies Captain and Vice-Captain.

I just wanted to send a quick note to all to say “hello”!  I’m looking forward to getting to know better all our lady athletes and their coaches.

We had hoped to have a short “meet & greet” in the club house some Tuesday evening with coaches and athletes but with Covid numbers so high I don’t think that will be possible for now.

With all the buzz of the Senior Ladies Leinster Cross Country success at the weekend, myself and Laura would really like to build on this and see as strong representation as possible in all age groups, across the full yearly calendar of events – namely, Cross Country, Indoor, Road Racing and Outdoor Track & Field.  We’d like to be in a position to enter Clonliffe teams at every opportunity, raising the profile of the ladies section and encouraging new members to join in doing so.

We’ve put together a short survey which will help get to know a bit more about our lady athletes and encourage them to compete for Clonliffe Harriers.  I would encourage all our ladies Junior, Senior and Masters athletes to complete as soon as you can. Nil Desperandum,

Jenny & Laura.”
