Jonny clocks another PB at Super Club Autumn Meet

After his excellent 4th place 1500 finish in Sunday’s Nationals Jonny Whan was a class apart in the 1000 in tonight’s Club Autumn Meet clocking an impressive 2.25.00 some 7 seconds clear of 2nd place Jafar Sekur.

It was yet another great club night in Morton Stadium with a brilliant turn out of athletes. The weather was good until the B 3000 when the heavens opened to give all and sundry a right soaking. The women’s 100 was won by Claudia Daveys in 13.3 with the men’s, featuring a 9 lane race by Pascal Touche in a very nippy 10.8 to take his 2nd successive club sprints race win.

Alannah Cooley was a comfortable winner on the women’s 1000 (3.15.1) from Katie Halpin and the ever improving Amy Sheehy.

In the 3000 A Efrem Gidey, National 5000 bronze medalist, was a clear winner in 8.33.4, with Aaron Cullen 2nd 8.50.5 and Callum Simpson 8.56.7. Race B was won by our guest Paul Moran (9.54.9), Niall Sherlock was 2nd and Killian Sherrin 3rd 10.13.0. The C race was won by Garrett Loy (10.36.9) in a sprint with Laura Tuite 10.37.0 and Sarah Bateson 3rd 10.39.6. Finally in the lashing rain race D was taken by Dave Commiskey (11.39.4), Shane rooney 2nd 11.42.1 and Marie Howard 11.47.3.

Thus the curtain comes down on what was a great club track season, thanks to the athletes for their buy in to the season, and a huge thank you to the club’s officials for their professionalism and good humour throughout. It’s been a blast!

We hope to be in a position to hold the club 10,000 over the coming weeks, when easing of restrictions make this more possible.
