Julia’s golden walk at Dublin Juvenile Indoor C’ships

Day one of the Juvenile National Indoor Championships took place today in the NIA Arena in Abbottstown. A fine number of Clonliffe juvenile athletes took part in events. Hurdles, walks and throws, long jump and a 200 metre sprints for some of the older athletes. It was a great start to the Indoor season.

Hurdles

Opening up the day was the U13 60 m Hurdle event. There were six heats in total. All on times, with the fastest 6 making it through to the final. For many of the girls, they only started this event last week, and their performance, to say the least, was impressive. Our first Clonliffe girl out was in heat 2, Fia Dunbar. Fia finished in second place in a time of 11.49. In heat 3, Muireann Spence finished 3rd with the time of 11.75. And heat 4 Maeva Edo Czechowska finished 3rd in a time of 11.15 and earned a qualification to the final with a small q. In Heat 6, Lucy Fagan 5th in a time of 12.62. Mavea ran a fine final finishing 7th  in a time of 11.62. A fantastic first outing for these girls in a new event in the 60 m hurdles.

U13 boys were up next in the 60 m hurdles. There were two heats in this event and qualification was 1st two in each heat plus four fastest. In Heat one, Isaac O’Neill won the heat in 10.86.  In Heat 2 Channing O’Shea also won his heat in an impressive time of 10.66, both boys qualified for the final. In the final, Channing O’Shea placed 2nd in a time of 10.46, with Isaac O’Neill finishing fourth in 10.73, both qualifying for nationals.

U14 Girls 60m hurdles had 4 heats.  In heat one Bronagh Huhges finished 7th in 12.37 with Rosie Moyles in 8th in 13.23.  Katelyn Duffy finished 6th in heat 2 in 12.19. 200m Sprints

In the 200m sprints, U17 saw Zoe Mulligan Lindsay, feeling  a little under the weather take 3rd position in heat 3 in 29.32.  In u17 boys Sean Sinopluoglu finished 3rd in his heat narrowly missing out on a place in the final by an agonising 0.2 of a second!  Sam O’Reilly won that heat and automatic spot in the final with 23.55.  Sam went on to run a stunning final finishing 2nd in 22.82

In the U19 Girls Emily Jachna had a fantastic heat winning in 26.42 which was a pb.  She then went on to finish 3rd in the final with yet another PB of 26.19. A fantastic season ahead for her.

Sean, Sam and Emily all achieved PB’s today.
