Juvenile Captain Gladys Cooper Reports: Today saw the second cross country League race take place in the Phoenix Park. The mild weather and good underfoot conditions made it a great day for cross-country running with a good showing from Clonliffe.
The morning got off to a great start with fabulous runs from are under 9 girls, under 10 boys and under 11 girls. First win of the day went to Jonathan Fitzsimons who fought hard to win the under 11 boys race .The under 12 boys and girls both fielded strong teams and represented us well, all packing closely and finishing strongly . The next top finisher for the black and Amber was Emma McDonnell in the under 13 girls in which she finished second having a great run, behind her were the rest of the under13 girls team all working hard and finishing strongly. The under 13 boys faced tough competition today but both competitors finished the race well and hope to build on their performances for the next League. In what was a very tough race the under 14 girls worked very hard and packed well, running positively and hoping to build on this performance for the upcoming Dublin championships. Similarly the under 14 boys team had a solid performance today ,one which they can hope to build on.
In one of the final races of the morning Lauren Carr produced the goods to finish in second place in the u16 race. Coaches and athletes all went away positive , hoping to build on all these solid performances as season progresses and Dublin championships approach.!!!
