Eugenia Bateson reports: Gladys Cooper and a team if Juvenile Coaches undertook a weekend trip in sweltering conditions.
In a bid to study coaching methods vs athletic performance the group headed off to The Diamond League in Brussels. Kieran Lyons who was due to join the group later ended up being the lucky one actually making the entire event in the very impressive King Baudouin Stadium. He had the privilege of witnessing Ciara Mageean’s National 1500m Record. The rest of the group arrived to see Armand Duplantis get a meet Record in a very impressive display. A spectacular event in a stunning stadium.
Day 2 and the group headed to the picturesque Bruges. To quote Brendan Gleeson “It’s like a fairytale”. The 32 degrees made this the warm weather training element of the trip.
Day 3 was topped off by the group taking over the hotel bar as we switched off the match to watch with great pride Efrem in the Great North Run.
A fantastic weekend had by all, now looking forward to coaching the juveniles to new heights
