Oct 3, 2010 [Noel Guiden] The highlight of this morning`s Round 3 of the Dublin Juvenile Cross Country was Ruth Bergins great win in the girls U/11 race. In round 1 Ruth was 3rd, round 2 she was 2nd and today she topped the bill with an excellent run, working her way through the pack and taking the lead in the run down to the finish to take a well deserved win.
Today`s round was held in lovely Autumnal sunshine making the Phoenix Park look the amazing gem it is. After races on successive weekends not unsurprisingly there was a smaller turnout of Clonliffe athletes today. As always the action got underway with the biggest race of the day the girls U/10 race. First Clonliffe girl was Hope in 6th with Lola 7th, Amy was 12th, Andrea 25th, Aoife 29th, Caoimhe 40th and Keelan 56th. The U/10 boys were led home today by Ben in 8th place, Fionn was 13th and Josh 16th.
The U/11s featured Ruth`s great win with an excellent run also today from Lauren in 29th place. Keelan was 14th in the boys U/11 race with Thomas again running strongly in 21st.
A great finish for the second week in a row saw Amy snatch places just on the line to finish 13th in the girls U/12 race over 1500m, Grace was 20th and Grainne 30th. The U/12 boys again packed really well lead home by Joseph in 4th, Timothae 7th and Keith 8th.
Our sole runner in the girls U/13 race was Nana in 20th place. Peter was well up the field in the U/13 boys in 9th with good runs also from Luke in 14th and Owen 16th. Finally in the girls U/14s Sally in her first race of the season ran a good steady race for 15th , Kate was 17th and Sarah 19th.
A well deserved break for the Juveniles for a couple of weeks will see them get some good training under their belts in the run up to the Dublins in Santry n October 31st.
