Juveniles on a high with a collection of PBs

Eugenia Bateson reports; Today concluded the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championship Individual Events.  
The High Jump was an excellent event for our Juveniles under the coaching of Michelle Lynch.
Christopher Lynch is the Dublin Indoor U19 High Jump Champion with a jump of 1.65. Gold also for Isaac O’Neill with 1.30 in U12 Boys High JumpBronze for U14 Eoghan Thompson with a jump of 1.40In the U16 Boys Hari Janakiraman placed 7th with a jump of 1.40In the U16 Girls, Ameile Kelleher finished 7th with a jump of 1.35Carragh Nigfhloinn jumped   1.15 in the U14 girls finishing 11th.It was great to see this discipline come to the fore for our young Athletes with 2 Dublin Championship Titles along with a well-deserved bronze .  Well done to all athletes.
Staying with the field events – U12 Boys – Rhys Daly jump 3.54 in the U12 boys Long Jump finishing 6thU13 Shot put thrower Ava Cosgrove finished with a throw of 5.11 in 23rd place

Track Events1500m U16 Boys was a straight final.  Joshua Chalmurs sat in for the first 4 laps, when the pressure came, he dropped of a bit but had a strong finish.  In a time of 4.47.62 took 6th position.  .  In the U18 Boys Jack Quinn was our sole participant.  Jack took 4th place, and qualification for the National Indoor Championships in a time of 4.25.55
600m Boys U12, heat one , Channing O’Shea finished 6th in a time of 2.09.94, Oisin Daly finished 9th in heat 2 in 2.22.39, Heat 3 was Rhy Daly in 4th in a time of 2.04.49. Tom Byrne finished 7th in heat 4 in a time of 2.16.05.  Well done to the boys
Girls U12, Ava Fagan ran in heat one finishing in 2nd place in a time of 1.57.89 , a PB and a small q into the final.  Heat 2 was the turn of Grace Byrne who finished 8th in her heat in a time of 2.16.89.  Lucy Fagan finished 8th in heat 3 in a time of 2.15.  Millie Ryan finished 8th in heat 5 in a time of 2.14.82.  In the Final Ava Fagan finished a very strong 8th in a time of 1.58.50. Well done ladies, fantastic to see good numbers out in this race for Clonliffe.
Boys U13, heat one saw a strong 2nd place by Seamus Phelan in a time of 1.53.86 and a q into the Final.  In heat 2 Sam Steenson ran a time of 1.55.18 finishing in 3rd and also earning a q into the Final. In Heat 3 Daire Cronin finished in 5th in a time of 1.57.87 and in heat 4 Darragh Kidd finished 4th in a time of 2.07.35.  In the Final both Seamus and Sam had fine runs finishing 10th and 11th in 1.55.44 and 1.55.63 respectively.  Some very promising days ahead for our U13 Boys squad.
800MBoys U14, Braxton O’Shea was in heat one.  He had a very impressive win and straight through to the Final in a time of 2.26.08.  In heat 2, Joel Thomas finished 11th in 2.55.47.  Braxton had a fantastic race in the Final finishing in 2nd in 2.26.36, a well-deserved Silver and a place in the National Championships.

Girls U14, Carragh Nigfgfhloinn was the sole Clonliffe entry.  She finished in 7th place in heat 1 in 2.54.74
Boys U15, Cormac Tynan finished 8th in Heat 2 in 2.32.27 narrowly missing a place in the final.
SPRINTS60MBoys U12, Isaac O’Neill took 1st place in heat 1 in 8.87.  Rhys Daly also took 1st place in his heat, heat 2 in 9.12 both lads through to the Semi Final.Issac was in heat one, again taking the honours of 1st in his heat in a time of 8.84.  Rhys finished 3rd in Heat 2 in 9.04 and a place in the final with a fastest finisher time.  In the Final, Isaac took 2nd in 8.85 and a place in the National Championships, while Ryys in a time of 9.07 finished 6th.  Fantastic running by both athletes. Girls U12, Ava Fagan took a very convincing win in heat 1 in a time of 9.31 and into the Semi Finals. In heat 5 Lucy Fagan finished 5th in 10.22.  Grace Byrne finished 6th in heat 8 in 10.98.   Ava finished in 6th place in the semi final in 9.39.
Boys U14, Joel Thomas finished 7th in heat 2 of the 60m in 9.94. Braxton O’Shea finished 2nd in heat 5  in 9.04.
Boys & Girls U16, Sam O’Reilly ran a good heat as did Zoe Mulligan in her heat.  Unfortunately, times are not on the website.  Neither of these hard working athletes progressed but no doubt, there are some good performances in store in the Outdoors.
Girls U18, Ava Usanova finished 1st in heat 1 in 7.50, Emily Jachna finished 2nd in heat 3 in 8.15 and a place in the final.  Ava took the Bronze in a  time of 8.10 while Emily who had an excellent start out of the blocks finished 5th in 8.14 and yet another PB.
Boys U19, James Duane finished 4th in heat 1 in 7.75. Bilal Kanimodo finished 2nd in heat 2 in 7.39, both through to the final.  In the final Bilal took 4th in 7.29 with a pb,  and a place in the Nationals with James finishing in  7.74 for 8th and a pb.
400MGirls U18, Rebecca Walsh finished 2nd in heat 1 in 1.03.00.  She lead in the Final to the final bend and in a close battle finished 4th in 1.02.89.  While disappointed not to get a medal, she is through to Nationals.
Boys U19,  Christopher Lynch ran in heat 2 taking a small q in 3rd place in a time of 52.05 and a pb.  In the Final, Christopher ran an impressive race finishing 2nd in 51.08, and another PB!!
That concludes the Individual events.  Saturday 24th February is Relay Day.
