Ladies team leap into medals

Aug 9, 2009 [Pamela CooperLadies_Captain] Saturday the 8th August was a proud day for the Clonliffe Ladies Track & Field Team as they finished in 3rd position with a highly respectable score of 112pts KCH took 1st position with 119pts & Athletics Kerry 2nd in 118pts.

The hot & humid day started off with Shauna Furman taking 2nd place in the 100mH Shauna who has bundles of team spirt & never affraid of a challenge went on to compete in the 400m finishing 6th and as a member of the 2nd placed 4x100m team (Shauna Furman, Leah Moore, Sinead Dowling,Ciara McCallion) Covering the reminder of the fast of furious speed events was Leah Moore in the 100m finishing 3rd, Ciara McCallion in the 200m finishing 2nd & Sarah Doyle in the 400mH finishing 5th. Our 4x400m team who finished in an impressive 2nd place was made up of (Ciara McCallion, Sarah Finnegan, Eleanor Alexander & Louise Reilly).

Covering our middle distance events was Sarah Finnegan in the 800m finishing 5th, Eleanor Alexanger in the 1500m finishing 4th & Louise Reilly who took a highly impressive 1st in the 3000m with and new PB of 9.57.29. A welcome return to the Clonliffe Ladies was Ciara Heneghan in the 1500m walk finishing 3rd.

The field events where also strongly covered starting off with Ange Liadova in the High-jump finishing 2nd & Long-jump finishing 7th. Denise Byrne took 1st position in the Javelin with a throw of 37.63 and 6th in the Hammer. Sinead Hartnett took 4th in the Shot Putt, Aurelie Le Moine was 7th in the Discus & Sinead Dowling 6th in the Triple-jump.

Out of the 19 events on the Track & Field programme we covered 18. just missing a pole vaulter. This results was a great one for the ladies team, one that can only be built on for next year. On a final note i just want to say a big THANKS & WELLDONE to all the ladies who competed yesterday and those who competed in rounds one and two. Role on next year ladies!!!!
